I Am the Door

The shepherd theme is one of the best-known and best-loved word pictures in the Bible. Here, in John 10, Jesus also refers to Himself as the “door” of the sheepfold, alluding to the practice of shepherds to lie across the opening of the enclosure and thereby protect the sheep within from anything that might harm them. As our “door,” Jesus offers to provide the security we need to flourish and be content and makes the claim that is a crucial truth of Christianity – that He is the Way, the only Way, to God.
